Despite its elegant look, it remains extremely hardy and beginner-friendly. This plant grows slowly and thrives when attached to driftwood, rocks, or decorations rather than planted in substrate.
Description
Windelov Java Fern is a cultivated variant of the classic Java Fern that features distinctive split or “crested” leaf tips. Its deep green leaves develop intricate branching patterns as they mature, creating a soft, feathery look in the aquarium.
Like other Java Fern varieties, Windelov grows from a rhizome and should not be buried in substrate. Instead, it can be tied or glued to hardscape where it will naturally anchor itself over time. This plant is extremely adaptable and tolerates a wide range of water conditions, making it ideal for beginners and experienced aquascapers alike.

Behavior & Compatibility
Windelov Java Fern is an excellent plant for community aquariums. Its tough leaves are generally ignored by most fish and even many plant-nibbling species. It also provides excellent shelter for shrimp and small fish, making it a great addition to nano tanks and breeding setups.
Because it grows attached to surfaces rather than rooted in substrate, it is perfect for aquascaping layouts that feature driftwood, rocks, or decorative hardscape.
Notes
Do not bury the rhizome in substrate — this can cause rot.
Best attached to driftwood, rocks, or aquarium decorations.
Extremely hardy and adaptable to low-tech aquariums.
Slow growing but long lasting.
A beautiful plant for nature aquariums and aquascaping layouts.
