Species: Fire Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi)
Fire Cherry Shrimp are a premium, high-grade variation of Cherry Shrimp, prized for their deep, solid red coloration that extends across the entire body and legs. These shrimp are selectively bred for intensity and coverage of color, making them a standout centerpiece in planted and nano aquariums. Hardy and easy to care for, they are perfect for both beginners and experienced hobbyists looking to elevate their shrimp colony.
Fire Cherry Shrimp are an advanced color grade of Neocaridina davidi, displaying a rich, opaque red that is far more intense than standard Cherry Shrimp. Unlike lower grades, Fire Reds often have little to no transparency, with consistent coloration even on the legs. They are active grazers, constantly feeding on algae, biofilm, and organic matter, helping maintain a clean and balanced aquarium environment.

Fire Cherry Shrimp are peaceful and social, best kept in groups or colonies where they feel secure and exhibit natural behavior. They spend most of their time grazing on tank surfaces and plants. Ideal tank mates include small, non-aggressive fish and other peaceful invertebrates. Avoid housing with predators, as their bright coloration can make them an easy target.
Fire Cherry Shrimp will breed readily in stable freshwater aquariums, often producing offspring with varying grades of red coloration. To maintain a high-grade colony, selective culling may be necessary. Their coloration is enhanced with a nutritious diet, stable parameters, and darker substrates. Like all shrimp, they are sensitive to copper and sudden water changes, so careful acclimation and maintenance are essential.
